📝 AITA for going through my boyfriend’s phone and confronting him about cheating at a family dinner?

So this happened last weekend and I’m still getting mixed reactions, so I figured I’d bring it here.

I (22F) had been dating my boyfriend (24M), let’s call him Jake, for about a year. Things were fine, but I had this gut feeling that something was off for the past few weeks. He was acting distant, always flipping his phone over when we were together, and suddenly became obsessed with “privacy.” 🙄

Anyway, he left his phone in the bathroom while showering (rookie mistake), and I looked. I know, I KNOW. But curiosity won. What I found? Flirty messages with two different girls, saved under guy names. One of them even said, “Last night was amazing 😘.” Yeah.

So I did what any emotionally unstable but weirdly calm woman would do I screenshotted everything, airdropped it to myself, and waited.

Fast forward to his mom’s birthday dinner. His whole family is there. He tries to act all sweet, puts his hand on my leg under the table, and says “I love you” like nothing happened.

So I smiled, leaned in, and said (maybe a bit too loudly): “Do both of the girls you’re cheating on me with know you’re saying that right now, or should I airdrop them this too?”

Silence. His mom gasped. His dad choked on a breadstick. Jake just stared at me like I’d grown three heads. I got up, handed him a napkin with “check your texts” written on it, and left.

Now half his family is saying I was out of line and “ruined” his mom’s birthday. My friends say I’m a legend. Jake is blowing up my phone saying I humiliated him.

So... AITA?
