I moved states recently and i am rooming with a girl my age (20’s, working professionals), and since moving I’ve had a few friends come visit on weekends. My room mate expressed that it was stressful having people in the apartment, so for the most recent visitor, I had her get a hotel for part of the time.

A month later, I had another friend want to visit. I texted my room mate asking if it was ok. 13 hours went by so I followed up with that I’m having a visitor next month. She responded the next morning saying she had wanted to talk to me in person about it, and it wasn’t good that I decided on my own.

Keep in mind, we both have our own bathrooms, my friends stay in my room, and when I host, we don’t really use the common area. We stay quiet, clean, and try not to be in the apartment that much.

AITA for hosting friends some weekends in a shared apartment? I let my room mate know every time. But this most recent request seems to have struck a chord. I’m not sure what to do since I already don’t have friends in this new state, so I love having friends visit me since I’m sort of lonely. I want to host, but my room mate seems to not want that. What should I do?
