I want to first start out by saying my grandparents are extremely narcissistic. Everyone in the family knows it. They never say they are sorry, admits blame, starts conflict etc. There is SO much more but Ill skip to the story. They are the type to degrade you but if you say something back you are the wrong one. My family all talks about it but never addresses it bc they are “the elders”.

Mid December, my son turned 4. I threw a birthday party for my son at our house. My sons father is incarcerated for a few months. I am close with his family. We had some issues a few years back but we worked through them and they are wonderful grandparents to my son. They treat us very nice and spoil him. Anyway, for some reason MY grandparents do not really like them. They do not like my sons father as well. My grandparents had never had a conversation with them as well. Anyway, my son does not really know my grandparents (his great grandparents) they never come over and we are never invited to their house so my son is a little shy around them. I am learning to drive so I cannot drive over there anyway.

During the party my sons grandpa was playing with him and laughing and my grandmother got up and walked over to my dad and grandfather sitting on the couch. My grandmother said to my grandpa she did not want to be there and wanted to leave. She then said to my dad she does not know how he deals with this in a rude tone. My dad then said you can leave there is the door. If you dont feel comfortable you can leave. They proceeded to curse and run out. Thankfully, only a few of my family members saw it and not my sons family.

SINCE THEN. They have called every single family member telling them how my dad kicked them out of the house. They even told my dads family. I knew they were not the biggest fans of my sons family but I wanted everyone together for him. They even said it was supposed to be family over but this is my sons family!!!!!! I did NOT expect it to end up like this. This has became such a big family drama. They said they never want to speak to my dad again and has been absolutely degrading our family. AITA? Is my dad TA? I feel like I am going crazy.
