So quick background this is from a DnD group as the one I originally had with my friends ended up disbanding as school and work didn't allow us to play anymore.
Now I used many sites but ended up finding 2 others to join me and two of my friends to start a new campaign together. Now off the bat one of these two new people seemed overly talkative in the discord server and had to talk to everyone about anything. Now me being a person that isn't normally like that it just put me off a tiny bit but it wasn't a huge concern.
Now after our first session even though the post I found him on stated he had been playing for two years he was very clearly a new player. This isn't a problem with my and my group however it showed in our sessions. In the session where we get to know our characters and roll our stats he seemed to have to be the center of attention. He talked over a lot of people and even had the best rolls (he rolled 3 18's). As our group is fine with homebrew he talked a lot with our DM and tried to get a lot of things to go his way. When this happened he asked to just have things go his way and didn't seem to like the answers that we were giving about how the game works. We as a group are very flexible on things but some things such as feats and rulings are still the same.
When we started actually playing the game he seemed to have a lot of main character energy. He felt he needed to talk over others and be the best in the fight etc. Later on we have about an hour left of our session and he decides to go on a solo adventure that took 45 mins before anyone else is involved. after about 2 mins of involving the rest of us he gets to go again and says "finally my time in the spotlight" and when I had tried to talk during his 45 min adventure he told me to "stfu because I wasn't in this scene" proceeds to take the rest of the time. After going in this area that our DM stated was empty and that he had wasted his time he goes "can you at least give me a dagger or something so it wasn't a waste of my time?" Our DM gave him a unremarkable dagger and that was that.
Fast forward to the next session he asks every NPC we see about the dagger and gets annoyed that no one knows about it. Later in the session me and another player have races/classes that don't require us to sleep so we ended up having an encounter and took maybe 30 mins of the time and this guy tried every which way to get into the encounter but the DM had to tell him over and over he was asleep and to far away to interact with us. After that encounter I have my character go back to the tavern and I am beat up and going to inform the two other players of what happened. When I see them this player states that he sees me and completely ignores me to go on a solo shopping trip. This solo shopping trip lasted 45 mins. In this 45 mins all he did was buy an overpriced map and tried to find a screaming whistle? He rolled to find one and got a nat 20 and instantly said so I find it right and our DM had to tell him no. With this he argued with all of us on how a nat 20 means he gets what he wants but finally settled down.
As we finished our session he stated that before we left this town that his character would go down every street and look at everything possible. He then asked if he could have a spell bar instead of having to keep track of his spells and we told him how that isn't how spells worked and he just got mad with us and didn't understand any way we explained it. When I heard this I made a group message with the rest of the group and told them how I felt which seemed to be reciprocated. I then put the suggestion that we kick him out and we all agreed.
After this he was kicked, I PMed him and told him it wasn't a good fit and when he asked why I was honest and told him exactly why and he was very respectful and said I am sorry I understand. So AITA for getting him kicked out of our group before talking to him as a group or was it warranted?
