First off, no one was injured. Obviously I wouldn’t have laughed had anyone actually been seriously hurt.
For quick background context: My husband started going to school full time about 5 months ago. We agreed that I would pay almost all the household bills since he paid for everything when I had been going to school over a year ago. So, I’ve been paying rent, utilities, groceries, going out, and every other little expense that comes our way. To do this, I’ve been working 6 days a week in a job that can be hard on my body and was even cleaning apartments and houses on the side for a little while to help make up some income (I stopped because I was literally running my body into the ground with all that work and no days off). Even last month, my husband broke a tooth and needed to have it extracted along with a root canal for another separate tooth. We don’t have dental insurance so it would cost $1,000. Guess who paid for that?? Then, his car broke down and he needed $800 to repair it. Guess who. He said when he got his tax return, he would pay me back the $800. The dental work was a gift of sorts and just my way of showing him I care for his health and wanted to encourage him to get care so I don’t care he wasn’t going to pay me back for that.
HOWEVER…flash forward to three days ago and I found an official looking document folded up in a plastic baggy in his backpack. When I took it out to put it somewhere safe (thinking it was his birth certificate or car title) it was a title to a suzuki intruder. I had no idea what this was. Turns out, he bought a motorcycle behind my back. It cost him $2,100. When I asked him about it, he says he used his tax return money. I still haven’t received my $800 back despite him telling me he still had it.
So tonight when he rode it to the gym and I was rightfully irritated watching him ride off, I was confused when he returned after only 20 or 30 minutes. I asked him why was he back so early and he hesitantly told me that some lady had ran into him on his way to the gym. His bike was dented and I laughed. Karma had delivered on my behalf. Everyone was fine. Just his ego and his bike were damaged.
Now I’m feeling guilty for laughing when maybe I should have been more concerned about his safety and wellbeing. So…
AITAH for laughing when my husband got hit by a car on his motorcycle?
