I'm a dude from south Asia. Few days back I was at a party, it wasn't too big of a party, around 30-40 people. The "host" Had his parents there too. It was mix of friend groups so I didn't know every one there but lot of us were friends or "knowns". Anyway we were all sitting together in one huge circle and talking over different topics. Eventually we all started discussing about our own country. We all were discussing positives and negatives ab our country. In between all of these I said somewhere along the lines that our country needs lot of improvements, I mentioned points like bad air quality, social etiquettes , crime rate, sanity issues etc. and how we could learn and fix stuff like many western countries. i mentioned some European countries too. In no way I was being disrespectful to my own country. Here's when my friends dad came in the conversation and told me i was being too rude and disrespectful. I explained myself but he kept arguing and raising his voice. At last I told him "it's okay if we don't agree to some things" to move on from this topic, he completely lost it and threw a plate full of snacks at me. The plate was plastic so that didn't hurt lol but the disrespect was beyond comprehension. I just got up and left the party. Am I wrong here?
