I (25F) bought concert tickets months ago for me and two of my friends — let’s call them Sarah and Tasha. It’s one of our favorite bands and the tickets weren’t cheap. We were all hyped for it. The plan was to go together, have a night out, and just enjoy the show. Everything was chill until last week, when Sarah broke up with her boyfriend.
Now, I totally get that breakups suck, and I’ve been trying to support her as best I can. But then she hits me with, “Can you give your ticket to my sister instead so I can bring my best friend from childhood? She’s been helping me through this.” I was kind of caught off guard. I said no — I bought my ticket, I’ve been looking forward to this for months, and I still want to go.
She got weirdly passive-aggressive, saying stuff like, “I just thought you’d understand, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised,” and she’s been cold with me ever since. Tasha agrees with me but is staying out of it.
Now I’m wondering if I was being too harsh. But at the same time… it’s not like I’m obligated to give up a night I’ve been excited about just because someone else’s plans changed. I tried suggesting we just still go together and make it fun, but she doesn’t seem interested unless she gets to bring someone else.
So yeah… AITA for saying no?
