The neighbor allows their 2 elementary school aged children (maybe 6 and 9) to stay home alone after school for 1-2 hours before the parents get home from work.

Recently, the kids have been letting their dog (puppy?) out in the backyard who will bark incessantly without being attended to. I have gone in the backyard to check if there is someone out there with the dog, but no one ever is. The dog is just unattended alone outside. Rain or shine.

Today when the dog was barking in the backyard I called the police for a wellness check. Legally the children are too young to be home alone here. AITAH for ruining their after school plan?
