Okay, so this happened last week and my husband is still mad at me. I (29F) have been married to my husband (32M) for three years, together for six. We’ve had our ups and downs, but this one is making me question if I really messed up.
So, my husband has been looking for a new job for months. He finally landed an interview at this company he's been obsessed with since college—literally calls it his “dream job.” The interview was scheduled for 7:30 AM via Zoom. The night before, he was playing video games with his brother and friends until like 2 AM. I reminded him at least twice to get some sleep, and he brushed me off both times with “I’ll be fine” and “Don’t baby me.”
He didn’t set an alarm. I noticed, and I didn’t set one for him either.
I got up around 6:45 for my own remote job, and saw him completely knocked out on the couch. I thought about waking him up. But honestly? I was annoyed. I’d told him this interview was important, I’d encouraged him, helped him prep, and he just blew it off to play Apex Legends or whatever all night. So I didn’t wake him. I just… didn’t. I figured he’s a grown man and he can take responsibility for his own life.
He woke up at 8:15, FREAKED OUT, begged me to say it was still before 7:30. When I told him I didn’t wake him, he stared at me like I’d kicked a puppy. He missed the interview and didn’t even email them until 10. No response yet.
Now he’s furious. He says I “sabotaged” him and “don’t support him,” that I should’ve known it was important. I feel bad, but also like… I tried. I’m not his mom. I think he’s just projecting because he’s embarrassed. But now even my sister is saying it was “passive aggressive” not to wake him.
So. AITA?
