This is a weird one. So, my husband (M34) recently had a dream that he described like a 'prophecy'. He said he was on a walk with his coworker and 3 weird forest witches said he’d progress greatly in his career and become very successful. He told me about it and seemed super hyped, and really believed in it. His behaviour was very odd and he was really anxious about what it might take to get there. He was fully serious. I (F30) believe in his potential — he’s brave, smart, and honestly way too kind sometimes, he really doesn't get the recognition he deserves and I support his aspirations.
Fast forward a few weeks, we decide to host his boss, Duncan (M50s), for dinner at our house, as we are all good friends. My husband and I continued to talk about his vision and we had a very long and serious conversation before Duncan came. I suggested that maybe this was the moment for my husband to take action. We decided in our earlier discussions that we needed Duncan to just 'go away', for a long time and be any means necessary. He was really hesitant at first, but I told him if he didn’t do something now, he’d never reach his full potential. I may have implied he wasn’t being “manly” enough, which I admit might’ve been a low blow.
Me and Duncan are both severely allergic to peanuts, so Duncan puts his guard down when he comes over and often doesn't keep EpiPens on him. My husband cooks dinner that night and uses peanut oil. I obviously don't eat it but Duncan is clueless. We are not evil, we didn't let Duncan die. He is in the hospital, his reaction along with other complications means he will have a very long recovery. My husband did end up with the promotion but I'm not sure if it was worth it because everything’s kind of spiraling now. he’s EXTREMELY paranoid, and I’ve been sleepwalking and talking to myself; our family is in chaos.
We told some of our closest friends and family about the whole ordeal and they're calling me manipulative or power-hungry, but I genuinely thought I was helping him fulfil his destiny. I didn’t make him do anything… I just strongly encouraged him to go for it.
