Ive stopped speaking to my brother and father after repeated rejections, judment, and gosspi. They constantly talk bad about me behind closed doors and in front of me as if I'm not in the room. This last time, I was living with my father while paying rent and decided to move in with a friend after being repeatedly ignored, the only times he spoke to me was if I initiated conversation or to ask for rent money. I finally had enough when he left me waiting outside for nearly an hour in the cold after i had called and messaged ahead of time letting him know i was on my way home and to please have the door unlocked. Instead he ignored my calls and messages telling him i was outside waiting and when he got there he gave me a dirty look and had an attitude with me because he had to come home to open the door. Mind you I had asked to make a copy of the house key and already changed my address. I was going to pay for the key myself but he had an issue with me having a key at all. I've constantly had to initiate conversations and quality time with him. Even going as far to begging him to take me to father daughter dances as a child. He goes out of his way to speak to my mother who he claims to not like as well as my half sister who is not biologically his but will speak unkindly about them behind their backs as well.

I've stopped talking to my brother because of many reasons but the deal breaker was when he decided to blow up my phone fussing and cussing over our mother who was upset because she thought she was going to harass me over the phone and attempt to steal my belongings because I decided to cut her off financially after she refused to pay her rent and utilities. She was also upset that I had left her home to take care of a sick elderly relative instead of her. So she got him to harass me over the phone as well and damage my personal property. My so called mother has been an abusive addict my whole life so cutting her off was easy.

I still here about my father and brother through family members who constantly try to defend them. AITA for severing ties with them?
