This got removed from AITA, so reposting here. My friends convinced me (35 F) to report an Uber driver. They said to "stop minimizing" what happened, but I'm not certain it was that big of a deal. Maybe I overreacted, and I'm kinda regretting it now.
I'm married, and my husband is 33 M. I went out for a girls' night Saturday while he stayed home. Obviously my outfit shouldn't matter, but for context: I was wearing a shirt my husband bought me that says "SLUT" on the boobs. He thinks it's hilarious, and in his defense, he's objectively correct. Every time I wear it, some dude will look me up and down, smirk, and say, "I like your shiiiiiirt." To which I cheerfully reply, "Thanks, my husband bought it for me!" Their faces are *chef's kiss.*
However, I regretted my wardrobe choice when I ordered an Uber at the end of the night. The car pulled up, and when I opened the door, he verified my name, as is customary. But then as I was getting in, he turned all the way around to look at me and said, "Hi, [name]. You having fun tonight, [name?]" I said, "Yeah, thanks! Happy to head home now though." And he said, "Wow, [name], you smell good."
I said, "Thanks!" and then immediately grabbed my phone to text my husband. I told him the driver gave me a weird vibe and to please wait out front, because I might stop-drop-and-roll out of this [detailed description of the car I was in.]
When we arrived, I pointed out my house to the driver, and he drove straight past it. A block down, there's an empty parking lot next to an old corner store, and he went for that instead. My husband came running after the car before I could even say anything. I got out as quickly as I could, and I thought that was the end of it.
Twenty minutes later, my husband went outside for something, and when he came back in, he said, "Your Uber is still out there." I looked out the window, and there was a car parked exactly where I'd been dropped off. The second I stared at it, the car drove away. It was too quick for me to verify the make and model, but it was the same color and size.
I was going to let the whole thing go; IF it was the Uber driver, maybe he was taking a break. But my friends convinced me the "You smell good" comment is weird, as is him driving past my house. AITA, or did I make the right call?
