I (21F) am in a long distance relationship with my girlfriend (25F). We’ve been in and out of contact for the past 5 years but we have been together for around 1 year now. We’ve had relationship issues surrounding the amount of time we spend together (on the phone), as I work 9AM-5:30PM and we call daily for hours. She wanted to spend more quality time together this weekend, and I agreed that the whole day we can spend watching films or chatting.

Here’s where my gf thinks I’m the asshole, because my niece and nephew came round on the Saturday. I live with my parents still so I have no control whether they come here or not and they asked for 20-30 minutes of my time to look at their new toy which I agreed to, thinking it wouldn’t be a problem. I told my girlfriend when she woke up that I would be 20 minutes before we can start and she was really upset with me saying that I “made plans” on the day that was for her.

I don’t think I done anything wrong, I texted her ahead of time to say I would be spending 20 minutes with them as I didn’t even think she’d be awake (because of timezones). She says that it was her day and I was selfish for it not being 100% about her and that I “never spend time with her”. Which, I would disagree with. I work Monday to Friday and I call her for 5-6 hours per day (most days) and I’ve even cut back with hanging out with friends and family to spend more time with her.

AITA for taking 20 minutes to look at this toy during the weekend that I’d promised to her?
