📝 AITA for subscribing to my daughter’s OnlyFans and offering to help her with content ideas?

Hi Reddit, I (48M) have a daughter (21F) who’s currently in college. My wife (46F) and I have been helping her financially—tuition, rent, groceries, the usual. A few months ago, I encouraged her to find a part-time job to start supporting herself a bit. I told her it was time to learn some independence and earn her own money.

She agreed, and after a few weeks, she told me she had “figured something out” and was doing well for herself online. I assumed it was something like selling crafts, tutoring, or maybe streaming video games.

Well… I was wrong.

Later, I saw a charge on our shared credit card for something called “OF Enterprises.” I did some digging and, yeah—it turns out she started an OnlyFans account. When I brought it up, she was clearly embarrassed but said it was helping her cover expenses. She told me she didn’t want to burden us anymore.

I’ll admit, I was surprised—and not thrilled—but I also felt responsible. I was the one who told her to get a job. So, in my own awkward, supportive way… I subscribed. I figured it was no different than sending her money directly. Plus, she said she didn’t have many subscribers. I just wanted to boost her confidence and income.

To be clear, I haven’t watched much—just a couple clips to see what kind of content she was doing. It’s not like I’m watching regularly. It’s more of a “proud patron” kind of thing.

Now here’s where I may have messed up: We were having dinner the other night, and I casually asked her if she ever needed help brainstorming content ideas, or even filming—just from a technical standpoint. I told her I have a decent camera and editing software from when I used to do wedding videos. I also suggested she consider a “niche” angle to stand out. I was trying to be helpful, but she turned beet red and didn’t say a word.

Now my wife is beyond furious. She found out I subscribed and that I offered to “help” and said I’ve crossed every possible line. She told me I’m disgusting, our daughter is humiliated, and I need therapy. I keep trying to explain I was just trying to be encouraging and supportive in the only way I knew how. I didn’t mean anything creepy by it. I’ve always been involved in her life and creative pursuits—this felt like just another version of that.

But now no one’s talking to me, and I feel like a pariah in my own home.

Reddit, AITA for trying to support my daughter’s online work—even if that support maybe went too far?
