I (33F) bought a house last year. I spent the first year living hear remodeling the whole thing (new basement, new floors, new paint, new toilets, etc). Now I have my bedroom and bathroom in the basement and I rent out one of the bedrooms upstairs to my roommate (40M). “His” bathroom is really only used by him, but it’s the only bathroom on the main floor where the kitchen and living room are so occasionally myself or guests will use it. It’s in the hall, not attached to his room.

A handful of times now I’ve come home and really needed to use the bathroom and didn’t want to run all the way downstairs to mine have opted to use his and every time I’ve gone to use his there has been urine on the toilet seat. I get not everyone keeps as clean as I do, but I have asked him multiple times to not leave it like that. This time I lost my cool a little and lectured him like I was his mother. It felt terrible, but at the same time I don’t want to sit on his pee or have to clean it off my brand new toilet seat. AITA?
