My sister (29F) had a baby last year, and ever since then, she’s had a full-time nanny—like, literally full-time. The nanny lives with them, feeds the baby, puts him to sleep, takes him to appointments, everything. My sister sleeps in, goes out with friends, travels, and then posts on Instagram like she’s some supermom.
I (22F) was over at her place last week and she made a joke about how I wouldn’t understand how “exhausting” motherhood is. I laughed and said, “Exhausting? You have a live-in nanny. You’re basically outsourcing parenting.”
She got super offended and said I was being judgmental and disrespectful. I said I wasn’t trying to be mean, but she can’t act like she’s overwhelmed when she barely spends time with her kid. She started crying and told me I don’t know what being a mom is like and I crossed a line.
Now my parents are on her side, saying I shamed a new mother and that I owe her an apology. But honestly, I just said what everyone’s thinking.
AITA?
