📝 AITA for throwing my friend’s Easter egg and not picking up the candy?

Earlier today in English class, I saw that my friend (let’s call him Marco) had a plastic Easter egg full of candy on his desk. He was standing in front of his desk, on his phone, and another one of our mutual friends (let’s call her Victoria), who also likes to mess with him just like I do, grabbed the Easter egg and handed it to me.

I asked her if I should throw it at him, and she said yes. I threw it lightly at him, but it hit the floor and the egg popped open, spilling the candy. Marco immediately got mad and told me, in a very aggressive and demanding voice, “Pick that shit up right now.” I replied with, “You pick it up,” and then told him that Victoria told me to throw it. He said he didn’t care and just kept repeating, “Pick that shit up.”

I ended up picking it up, but there were a few pieces of candy that I couldn’t really reach from where I was, so I asked him to help me with those. He refused and told me again, “No, you pick it up.” I eventually grabbed the last of the candy, but the whole interaction left me feeling super embarrassed and honestly a little humiliated.

I know I was kind of wrong for throwing it in the first place—it was unnecessary and childish, and I’ve taken responsibility for that—but what’s been bothering me is how he spoke to me, like I was beneath him or like he had authority over me. We usually mess around and have fun as friends, but his tone really caught me off guard.

AITA for throwing the egg in the first place and not just picking it all up immediately? Or was his reaction way too harsh?
