Lily (25F) and I (30M) have been friends for 2 years. For context, Lily is attracted to women, and I am attracted to men.
Over the 2 years, I have introduced her to a number of my female friends, with whom she has invariably tried to hookup with. It bothers me because Lily is a mess when it comes to dating, and I don't want it affecting my current relationship with my friends.
I introduced her to a new female friend, Kate, 2 weeks ago, and she had been constantly mentioning that Kate is definitely into her. I have known Kate since childhood, and she has never divulged any story of same-sex attraction. They had very little interaction whatsoever, because Kate did not warm to Lily as much as I had hoped.
Anyway, after listening to this non-stop for 2 weeks, I asked Kate did she find Lily attractive. Kate said no, and I relayed this to Lily, hoping that she would knock it off with the assurance that it was obvious.
Lily got mad at me, and said I should not have asked Kate that, as it wasn't my business.
I said to her that it was my business, as it involved a friend who I've known since childhood; that it may well impact my friendship with Kate.
Lily then said I was jealous of her, and said we should take a break from our friendship. Lily doesn't have any other friends, because she cannot keep it platonic.
I want to cut her out of my life, because she brings instability to my current friendships and life in general.
AITA for asking Kate whether she liked Lily?
AITA for wanting to cut her out of my life?
