So, I (19F) have a group of friends, and we’ve been close for a few years now. But lately, they’ve started making jokes about my appearance—things like commenting on my weight, making fun of how I dress, or “teasing” me about the way I do my makeup. I know they say it’s all in good fun, but it’s honestly starting to get to me. I’ve mentioned a few times that their jokes hurt, but they just brush it off, saying I’m being too sensitive.
I’ve always tried to keep a positive attitude, but it feels like I’m walking on eggshells now. They’re constantly making me the butt of their jokes, and while they insist it’s all just humor, I’ve been feeling pretty bad about myself lately. It’s hard to be around people who don’t respect your boundaries, and I’m at a point where I’m considering cutting them off for my own mental health.
Am I overreacting, or is it okay to let go of people who consistently disregard my feelings, even if they’ve been my friends for a long time?
