We’ve been close since 2021, but lately I’ve started pulling away. I’m a science student preparing for one of the toughest engineering entrance exams, and she’s in the commerce stream prepping for a much easier college entrance test. She constantly complains about how “hard” the grade 7-level math is, and never puts in actual effort. She just blames everyone else when things don’t go her way.

When we meet (which used to be my break from studying), she spends the whole time ranting, being negative, and using me like her emotional sponge. She calls me during classes, makes me wait 20+ minutes when we meet, and has even said I “have it easy” because I score well—ignoring the fact that I study over 10 hours a day. She once said I only got 97% in class 10 because “the council gave me marks.”

I’ve deactivated all my social media to focus on studies, but she still sends me screenshots of stories from my old toxic friends—and even the guy I used to like with his girlfriend—calling it “romantic” in a sarcastic tone. It just feels so unnecessary and honestly mean.

I haven’t met her in 10 days and she recently called me three times during class. When I replied after, she just left me on read. I feel drained every time we talk, and lately I just feel more at peace without her in my life.
