So I am (m16), parents are (f47) and (m50), and we get into possibly daily arguments. I have ADHD, and it’s really hard to stay calm in a situation that could impact me more than they think. Whenever I say something actually important, they just shut me off for “crying like a little baby” or “being the victim” even though in most situations it’s not really my fault. I can’t really tell if my parents actually are guiding me to the right path or they just blame me for being dramatic. This all started when we were in our Tesla to go to a birthday party. I had fallen asleep before so to stay awake to go to the party (we stayed till about 12AM) and since the car ride was more than an hour, I decided to take a nap, because I wasn’t really interested in hearing them talk for hours, especially without my music. So I woke up, then I decided to check up on the Stanley my mom told me to hold. And if you know anything about Stanleys, they leak.

It ended up all over the back of the seat I was in so I got my pants wet, and when I told them I took a nap beforehand and I was sorry I wasn’t paying attention about it and didn’t know it would leak, they pulled the “it’s all because of that damn phone” card, which I didn’t even have on me at the moment. I had to deal with it and just said “Okay mom, thank you for the facts.” while we were cleaning, I was wiping it and my dad claimed, “I’ve got to do it all myself, huh?” I just left it to him because at that point, it wasn’t worth it.

Lastly, we had gone into another road that CLEARLY said 25 lane. Another sign later down told him he was going too fast, so I looked at the speed he was going. 46. About 25 more than he should have. I kept saying, ”Dad, you’re going too fast.” Or, “Slow down.” He didn’t listen (they didn’t get pulled over dw) and said, “Maybe you’ll understand when you start driving.” So I simply had to stay quiet for the rest. (The actual birthday was very enjoyable, I enjoyed talking with my friend nearing the end of our stay and had a good time.) But am I really the asshole?
