So getting straight to the point my dad (62 M) and me (18 M) got into a fist fight over me wanting to go to my school to do an assembly about mental health, when I had asked he told me that he didn't need to give me an answer, and then told me that if I went without his permission that I could just pack my stuff and leave, so I took my backpack and started to put some clothes into it, he proceeded to try to snatch the backpack out of my hands and then when he couldn't hit me in the face, that's when I knew I was gonna hit him back, so I hit him,he then took a can of wood lacker and threw it at me, hitting me in the side of the head, and when I tried to leave he blocked me saying I had assaulted him, I was just defending myself to a degree I thought was reasonable, but he decided to call the police and the cops sided with him, I then got arrested and put in jail awaiting court, I got released on a trust bond and got sent to a crisis center on an ankle monitor, I had my uncle (37 M) retrieve my phone for me and come to find out they had FACTORY RESETTED MY PHONE, the phone I pay for and they have no affiliation with. But anyway AITAH
