📝 AITAH for being upset to the point of wanting to breaking up with my partner due to them saying it’s ok to kill cats that are pests?

My (24m) relationship with my partner (25f) is very good, stable, safe, and we both treat each other extremely well. Today we were walking around the neighborhood and were talking about stray cats. She said there’s a bunch of stray cats in their old neighborhood that get on cars and cause a huge nuisance. She said someone should just shoot them because animal shelters are too full. I immediately was upset, because I find shooting animals, unless for food to be quite cruel. She then said euthanizing them instead was also adequate.

Once she knew I was upset, she specified she would never shoot them. And that she wouldn’t ask someone else to do it. She was also sad and apologetic that it disturbed me. Now I get hating cats, because I strongly despise cats and want nothing to do with them, but I couldn’t bring myself to kill one randomly in the street simply because they are a nuisance. Or to support that ideal.

Although I will say, humans kill things indiscriminately very frequently, such as bugs, rodents, and other pests without a second thought. It’s only because cats are considered “pets”, in a similar manner to dogs, that people are very defensive over any harm to them.

AITAH for bringing up and considering separating because of this small matter?
