A week ago I 26F was at a family reunion with my sister 22F. For context my sister has a child 6F who ngl is literal devil spawn. She has no concept of personal space and she practically runs around like a lunatic 24/7. She also has a very big obsession with biting things which will be important later. That would be alright on its own I guess. Kids will be kids right? But my problem is that my sister and her husband are huge enablers and they never punish their kid.

Anyway onto the story. I had decided to play/hangout with my niece and a few of the other little kids that were at the event. Things were going great and the kids were mostly playing cute little pretend games when suddenly I heard bickering. When I came over to check out the problem one of the little boys told me that niece had bitten him. I wasn’t surprised because like I previously mentioned niece has a strange biting problem. I started to tell my niece that her behavior was wrong when she suddenly bit me in the arm hard enough to cause blood and ran away. I was pissed.

After cleaning and bandaging my wound I told my sister what her daughter had done and her reaction was infuriating. She laughed and said “it’s alright I’m sure she’ll learn”. With that she turned back towards her convo and continued to talk. I started to yell about how she should be punishing her kid and she looked at me like I had three heads. We argued back and forth for a while and it wasn’t getting anywhere. She just kept defending her hellspawn daughter and yelling about how “she doesn’t know any better”. When I mentioned I could possibly have an infection from her bites my sister scoffed and said “you just got bit. It’s not like your arm was cut off”. Without thinking I grabbed her arm, said “let’s see how you like it”, and bit her. Idk if it broke the skin or not because I was swiftly kicked out of the event by my stepfather. I do feel bad honestly because I may have overreacted but my sister was acting as if being bitten by a 6yr old was “ok”. My sister and her husband have been ignoring my calls and texts since then. So AITAH?
