For some background: I have a little stretch of property that’s covered in trees that backs right up against my neighbors back yard. It’s not nearly enough to be considered a forest, and we typically let our dogs out there. My neighbors have 9 year old twin girls that are kinda bratty. Like their parents gave us a swing the kids hadn’t used in over a year, but as soon as we got it, they were all over our yard saying it’s theirs. They’ve also swam in our pool without our permission, hit and kicked our dogs and chickens, and have tried taking our bikes. Their parents have tried to get them to stop coming into our yard but they just don’t listen.

Well yesterday when I was taking my dogs outside I saw them making a stick fort in the woods. I told them they know they shouldn’t be back here and they probably get yelled at by their parents again. They just ignored me and went back to their little fort until their mom came out and yelled at them to come back in. Both of them looked at me before leaving and just said “don’t touch it, it’s our not yours”, but I could’ve sworn I heard the mom say something along the lines of “it’s not on YOUR property though” to the girls as they went inside. Last night my family was having a bonfire and we needed more kindling. Well, the girls had managed to find the perfect wood for a fire and were using it of their fort. So, I took the fort down and used it for the fire.

This morning I was about to take the dogs outside again when someone started pounding on my door. It was the twins and their dad, and all three of them were yelling at me, saying how could I take a little girls fort down, and I have to give them the sticks back now or else. When I told them I used the sticks for a fire, the girls started crying and the dad was pissed. He told me that I’m a huge dick and that “there’s a special place in hell for people like me”. I just said what the mom had told me and he called his wife, only for her to agree with me. Now the moms been texting me saying her husbands over reacting, but dad and twins keep yelling at me about how I’m the worst person ever every time I go outside, AITAH?
