So I was at work the other day, I’m usually in a pretty good mood in the mornings, but not in like an obnoxious way …I was walking through the office and saw my Boss standing there. I hardly ever see him as he works at another site, but sometimes he comes and visits to see what we are up to and have meetings or whatever and I’ve met him a few times.. I greeted him casually like I usually do to people, it’s part of my personality and kind of part of my role too as my role is very social and rapport based.

I said: “Good morning, boss man, what’s going on?”

He turned around with this full on scowl and goes “Who are you?”

I was taken back ……and said, “It’s (my name) … we’ve met like six times, buts that’s ok.” - I was trying to make light of the situation at this point with an awkward smile

He then shook my hand really tightly and said, “Right. Well, my name is (his name). Don’t call me ‘boss’ again. That’s very rude.”

I just kind of blinked and said, “Cool, sorry. no worries.” And kind of walked off awkwardly some of the other people in the office, saw the interaction and were actually quite shocked.

… AITAH? I genuinely wasn’t trying to be disrespectful. That’s just how I talk. it was meant to be friendly. I really feel like I didn’t do anything wrong, but now I feel super awkward.

Was I out of line, or is he TAH???
