TW: DV

I live in an okay area, not horrible but not amazing. With that being said I have lived here since October and have called the police one time. There was a man screaming outside asking for someone to stop at 3am. No clue what happened with that. Anyway that brings me to tonight (15 minutes ago). We got home from watching a late movie and pulled into the driveway. We live in a large complex each with 3 floors. I went to shut off the car until I saw there was silhouettes in the window of the building next to ours. I watched them for a minute confused what they were doing. There was a man and a woman. And after watching for a minute i realized they were physically fighting eachother. Not just like, bitch slapping. The man was dragging and hitting the woman and she would slap him in the face. And no it wasn’t a movie or something on the TV I saw them go back and forth behind the (almost clear) curtain. So in the interest of both of their safety I called the police. The lady that answered almost treated me as if I was prank calling. She asked me “How do you expect the police to go up there are you going to let them in?” And I told her i only have a key for my building. She then said “Well that’s a lot going on for a window.” In a snarky tone.. Almost as If I was making it up.. And i was like okay…? I’m sorry? Was I in the wrong for calling? My mind is actually baffled on how they didn’t take this seriously. It was very intense fighting. I wouldn’t have called otherwise. I just wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if someone seriously got injured and I just turned the blind eye??

TLDR: Police operator treated me like a prank caller for calling about neighbors physically fighting very badly.
