Hello! First time poster, also English is not my first language.
I currently spend a lot of time in Czech Republic, I was here for a few months and wanted to go on a week long vacation during that stay. My work friend offered to take care of my dog, but he was flying in from Madrid a day before I leave so I made a reservation at a dog hotel I used before. I was a bit stressed to leave my dog with him, he only stayed one day with him before and this time we planned to be a whole week… But he came back to the country on time (which is not a given with him heheh), and I knew my dog liked to be with him more than the hotel … so i decided to cancel the reservation.
I was happy to pay full price for that reservation. Please mind I never cancelled with them before, aside from sometimes adjusting one day here and there. For example: I planned to be out for 6 days but I came back 8h before and picked him afternoon day before instead in the morning the next day, not because of finances but because I missed him. I always offered to pay full price in advance but they said I will pay what they calculated on pickup.

The convo:
Me: Hi, I have a reservation with you starting tomorrow for my dog (name). However, I would like my friend to take care of him as a test to see if (dog name) can stay with him. He already has some experience with (dog name). Still, I would like to pay for the reservation, because there is only a very small chance that he wouldn’t manage, and it would make me feel more at ease. I’m convinced that (dog name) will stay with you in the future, so I would feel uncomfortable just cancelling the reservation. Would it be possible to pay for it tomorrow or next Monday and use it if needed?
Their Reply: Good day, you do not need to pay for the stay. Next time, please seriously consider whether you truly want to make a binding reservation or not!! You have already dealt with a similar situation before. Therefore, the reservation is hereby cancelled. Have a nice day.
My reply: Good day, thank you for your response. I would just like to clarify that I do not recall ever cancelling a reservation with you before. Precisely because I take reservations seriously, I wanted to pay for the stay in full, even though there was only a small chance I would end up using it. I did not intend to cause any inconvenience; on the contrary, I wanted to be fair. I am sorry for the situation that has arisen and sincerely apologize. Have a nice day.

Am I insane? I am out of line? Yes maybe sometimes I wanted to pick him up earlier but I always offered full price. And by earlier I mean evening before instead if 7am in the morning. This whole thing bugs me for 3 months … I am so sad they left me on read, there are not so many dog hotels in the centre of the small city I’m often staying in. I have some events coming in the next 3 months and I am bummed and struggle with the thought I cannot reach out to them anymore.
