So I'm a 19 year old female, and I worked at a sandwich shop since I was 13 (illegal I know) and in that time I slowly watched sandwichs go from 8$ to 14$, my boss and the owner of the stores were well aware that I save people money (I feel bad charging that much) So one day I was working on someone's sub, and they asked "do you know this girl at blank location" and I say no of corse, hr follows up with "well her dad is a cop, and he killed my cousin" and I was like ok, it's unfortunate but some police just aren't good people But then he follows up with "her dad didn't call an ambulance after shooting him, so I'm sewing the department" so when I walked back to "prep some more sauce" for his sandwich I looked it up, I watch a lot of news and I actually am good pals with the department, and I heard nothing of it Turns out, his cousin had a grandmall seizure, the cops did arrive but it was to late, so I go back up and say sorry and we continue He starts again and says "so like I was saying, that girl, I made her cry, asked her how meny people her dad has klled and if he's klled himself yet?" That got my blood bowling, so I rung him up for 2 sandwich each 25$, he paid and left I later told my manager about it and it turns out that that girls dad DID try to hang himself, and that the girl started bad habits after that, I reached out and said I'm here if she needs me or anyone to talk to, also about what I did, she was happy for a minute My manager and the owner say I did a little sweetheart thing, but my family says I should've stayed out of it and that 2 wrongs don't make a right So reddit, am I the a**hole?
