I went to my friends house with my son and she had a dog who later attacked my baby. (1.5yr old). My son is okay and it could've been way worse but it wasn't just a little bit on the leg, this dog took a chunk of his scalp off. Initially, when emotions were high of course, it seemed clear by my friend that the decision was to put the dog down. "It would be taken care of" is what I was told. Now I'm finding out that they might now and have 10 days to make that decision because the health dept. says that they might be jumping the gun so now my friend is thinking of not doing it. I get it's hard to lose a pet but this is the reality when something the grand happens. I also later found out that this dog is protective of his toys, even though my friend knew that she still brought a ball out for the dog. I also heard she is telling people my son provoked the dog and was poking his butt but my son was actually infront of the dog facing away. The bite is on the back of the head which proves this even more. I worried that the story they gave the health dept made them think the dog wasn't dangerous enough. I'm mad. How dare she be so irresponsible with her dog with my baby. Am I the asshole since now I don't want to continue talking to her and pushing for putting down the dog.
