Liz (25) and I (28) were very close, we lived together in college, worked together etc. We had gone no contact with my mom after a big fight.

Liz was talking to Ed (32) for about 2 months but he didn’t want to commit due to Liz and my youngest sister Em (24) were moving to Atlanta. Liz told me Ed had been to jail for ‘terroristic threats’. Liz quit her job too early and didn’t start her new job 2 months, I helped her pay her bills in that time.

Our friend Jen (26) and I went to visit Liz in Atlanta for Halloween/her bday and she was on the phone the whole time, texting and calling, so we Googled Ed and found her went to prison for DV. We told Liz, she claimed not to know.

Liz came to our hometown every weekend between then and winter break to see Ed, often skipping work Mon-Tues. she even ignored my b-day. I told her that it made me feel bad and she tried to convince me she did nothing wrong.

I was supposed to move into the house she owns but couldn’t because we both had pets, hers being the 2 family dogs, it worked out best for them to live with her.

During fall break Liz and Ed became official. Around that time I requested Ed’s full criminal history and he had been arrested child abuse and DV multiple times. She claimed she already knew this and told me not to worry about her.

I decided to replace the basement shower and lock the door to the basement before Liz came for her 2 week winter break as it was broken and I didn’t want Ed to have any excuse to come around my space or pets. This made Liz mad as I didn’t ask and I apologized. She had Ed’s family finished the shower and he’s been here ever since then (he had been living with his parents).

Liz left my family’s holiday celebrations early to go to Ed’s celebrations, they had been official for 2 weeks. On New years they showed up with a puppy.

2 weeks after winter break Liz moves back to home and has been living with Ed ever since. It is unfinished and having to live with her and Ed’s loudness was not part of the agreement. The family dogs have since moved back to my parents house as she wasn’t medicating them (they are both old and only take a single medication each with no struggle).She tried to claim that I set the rent I would pay and refused to pay more, that did not happen. I keep feeling like I should reach out but I don’t think I need to, AITAH?
