📝 "AITAH for distancing myself from a much older guy who helped me professionally?"

I (19F) met a guy (40sM) who used to work in the industry I’m studying in. When we met, we talked about my major, and he said he could help connect me with some people. He actually came through—I’m now working on a small project with a crew, thanks to him.

Because of that, I gave him my number and email. At first, it was professional, but it started getting weird. He began asking me to get food with him, specifically off campus. I didn’t think much of it at first and canceled due to classes. But then he started sending “good morning” texts and asking things like where I like to eat, if I’m free, etc. It started to feel more like he wanted to hang out or date rather than talk about industry stuff.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it just feels off. I’m 19, and he’s in his 40s. I don’t know if I’m being paranoid, but I’m honestly scared to confront him about it—and even more scared of being a “statistic.”

So… AITAH for feeling uncomfortable and wanting to pull back, even though he helped me professionally?
