my (26f) boyfriend (27m) have been dating for 2 years. we live together. he has anger issues and explodes over what feel like really minor things to me and up till now i’ve really tried to just let it go but i’m growing tired of the unnecessary anger.

today he all of a sudden got really quiet and off and it made me a little nervous. ill be real im an anxious wreck some days & can totally see how that would be annoying or overwhelming to some people. i asked him a few times whats up and he got annoyed acting like i was crazy saying nothing was up and then i was like “i’m just rlly freaked out cause all of a sudden you’re all quiet and i’m all in my head about why”.

idk if thats wrong wording or what. but he got so angry and was all “IM NOT DOING ANYTHING” and i was like ?? 🙄 cause he says that phrase all the time im like ok im not saying youre doing anything im just expressing anxiety about your sudden shift in behavior. but i said “stop acting like that everytime i notice an energy shift” yes i was frustrated. he jumps to this weird angry defensive place when im not even coming at him and its annoying. so i couldve worded that nicer & i get that.

but he just fucking blows up and starts repeating “STOP ACTING LIKE THAT” like mocking me but saying it way more angrily than i did. then he’s all “do you think thats kind? thats unacceptable to speak to me like that. like im garbage.” and im like “i mean im sorry its annoying you jump to this defensive place over nothing” and hes like “IM ALLOWED TO DEFEND MYSELF” and i was like dude there was nothing to defend yourself over and im at this point just fucking annoyed and monotone and so he yells fuck you i want the rest of the night alone and im like yeah im done.

i get it was a small thing and hell maybe im a bitch and dont realize it but i just dont understand why he gets so angry at certain things. and as much as i love him i cant do this extreme shit anymore.
