My girlfriend got a new puppy 3 weeks ago and at the time I was super happy for her but I also had this feeling in the back of my mind that this puppy would take up away a lot of her attention and trust me I get that a new puppy requires work and does need that constant attention, but some of the things she says really scare me. She often says things like “I’m taking my dog EVERYWHERE” and it kinda sucks to hear that because I would love if she gave that same kinda energy to me. I offered to take her to Japan for a summer vacation the other day and even offered to pay for everything even her plane ticket and the first thing she said was “can I bring my dog” it sucks because I want her to want to spend time with just me but it doesn’t really seem like she would be interested if the dog couldn’t come. For context we’ve only been dating for 4 months and she’s my first girlfriend I’ve ever had so I’m not super good at expressing my wants to her and the puppy is only 10 weeks old so I’m hoping that maybe this whole “bring my dog every where” phase will blow over and she’ll pay attention to me again but I feel like such an asshole because I want her to be happy with her new puppy too.
