I’ve been divorced for several years and share 50/50 custody with my ex wife. Last week my 6 year old daughter had a tummy ache and randomly told me “Maybe it’s from Mr. Bill.” (Bill is my ex-wife’s boyfriend who’s been in the picture for about 3.5 years). I asked questions and she basically said Mr Bill sometimes hits her in the stomach but it’s only when Mommy isn’t home. I asked if this happened once and she said “nooo… it happens lots of times!”

Next day I filed a police report stating everything my daughter said. I didn’t embellish the truth or saying anything outside of this conversation (eg nothing negative about his character because he seems like a good guy otherwise and nothing against my ex). I informed my ex about this and that’s when shit hit the fan…

She’s called me multiple times telling me that I took it too far and my actions with going to the police for something a 6 year old could be making up is awful. Her father is calling me now saying this is going to ruin her BFs life because even if it gets investigated it’s going to be on his record and he’ll never recover from this.
