📝 AITAH for getting fired for yelling at a customer who was yelling at me first?

I was working the express lane at my grocery store job, and the self-checkout terminals had been out of cash since the day before and therefore could not accept cash. A customer came up to me to complain how this wasn’t stated on the machines themselves, when in fact it was. I tried to explain this to him, but he interrupted me to contradict me and started acting aggressive to which I firmly told him not to yell at me. He kept going, I repeated to him “don’t yell at me”. My temper then immediately snapped and I exploded, saying “don’t FUCKING yell at me!”

Long story short, I got sent home early, and upon arriving home I got a voicemail from the boss saying that they had to terminate my employment because even though the customer was incorrect and was rude to me, I “crossed the line” by using profanity. I know I’m most definitely an asshole in this scenario either way, but am I the biggest asshole?
