I(21) share a apt with my boyfriend(25) and I do absolutely everything around our apartment. I tasked him with 1 job which is doing laundry but 80% of the time I am the one who ends up doing it because he doesn’t and obviously I am so irritated because Its the one and only thing I ask of him. I usually let him slide because he works as a mechanic he works longer hours than me and he contributes more to the rent because he makes more money. But its getting to a point where I am getting so angry its a conversation ive had multiple times with him and he always says he will start doing it and he will for a little then its back to it just being me. It really set me off this morning because I usually dont like to let dishes sit in the sink I like to wash them as soon as im done with them and he knows this and on thursday he ate left the plate in the sink it is now sunday and he still has not washed it. It just irks me because he always uses the “im so tired” excuse but he can get up at 3:30am to go fishing with his buddy but cant take 5min of his time to wash a dish? after I cooked the whole meal washed every other dish that was used it would be nice if he washes his one dish he ate off without later saying something like “well u made me wash my dish the other day” like huuuh of course i did because i cooked this meal cleaned afterwards and you still just leave a dirty dish in the clean sink??? for days?? I just hate leaving our apt a mess then coming back and its still a mess. I sent him this message this morning “can u do ur laundry when u get home i shouldn’t have to keep asking uk that drives me crazy help me with the 1 thing i ask u to do we share this home its not just me living here. dont get mad bc im asking u bc u get annoyed at me for asking u to do 1 dish the dish u eat off theres a plate in the sink from Thursday that u ate off and its still in the sink bc i didnt ask u to wash it i should not have to be asking u to do these small things u should be doing them i dont ask u to do much bc ik ur usually tired so i will take care of it but u have 1 task that does not even need to be done everyday and you have not done it please” but now I feel bad I guess I just need some validation since I did grow up in a traditional “women cook women clean” home.
