We have been together for 6 and a half years. We still love each other a lot, have fun together, sex is great too.

About a year ago he started in a new workplace where he met his current friends, who are drug and alcohol addicts. First it was just hanging out at their place, trying out stuff for a few hours. But recently it got really bad.

He is away for days without showing up to work or not getting up when he is back. Completely out of it. He reeks of alcohol, his face has a really weird jaw movement, he can't talk or move properly. He just arrives home and sits in a chair and falls asleep. He then sleeps for a day or more. Completely useless. It is not just me who ignores, our cat gets neglected as well. There would be no food or water for him, or his litter wouldn't be done if it wasn't on me. The flat is a mess. His clothes and dishes are everywhere, he doesn't shower for days.

Last night i sat him down and told him I would leave him if he doesn't stop or doesn't get help. I am not going to be with an addict. Period. That is a very harsh line for me and I won't make exceptions for anyone. I don't care if it is an illness or whatever excuses people give to addicts, I won't be with one. Not now, nor ever.

The next time I will know or see the signs of him using, will be the day I walk out the door without looking back.
