The reason why I’m looking for excuses is because we’re not close. She doesn’t have a lot of friends and I feel that she started getting close to me when she got engaged because she knew she wouldn’t have any friends for bridesmaid things/wedding things.
She was even awful to me when we first started working together. Now I’d say she has been a decent friend to me and I to her. But we are not that close. The bachelorette is something very niche to her and very expensive for me. I can’t take time off work for this and I’m also struggling financially. She’s wanting to book an expensive package where the handful of girls are all splitting costs. Problem is, if I back out I’m kinda screwing other girls over cause they’ll have to pay more.
So I’m stuck and don’t know what to do. It’s expensive, we’re not close, I can’t take time off work and the trip that’s planned doesn’t sound like fun to me at all. The cost of pleasing her in this is my time, my money, me having to pretend I’m having a great time and pretending that we’re best friends. I really don’t want to do that. AITAH?
