Let me just start by saying I use the term “friend” loosely. We used to be friends and now we’re just coworkers. She’s an EMT (24F) and I’m a medical dispatcher for 911. (26F). She recently got into a relationship with a cop (who’s married) and from the beginning I disapproved of it, 1. Because he’s married obviously and 2. Because I know the reputation that cops hold for making bad partners. Now anyone that’s worked around cops or has been one knows that there’s a stereotype that they tend to be unfaithful and just overall dogs in their relationships. Whenever she brings it up I typically crack a joke. For example she said they hung out the other night and I asked her if he had to wait until his wife was asleep first. This winter she came in and said that I had to see what he got her for Xmas and I said “hopefully a divorce”. Stuff like that. I don’t let up on her tbh. But recently I sent her a tik tok of a woman talking about how her father was a cop and even he told her to never ever date one.
She got offended and said that I’m always teasing her about the situation and that I don’t support her relationship the way I support everyone else’s. I told her that she invites herself into it because she knows how I feel about it and still insists on telling me things about them and that I’m not just gonna normalize what’s going on.
