📝 AITAH for making a new Reddit account when I found my ex stalking and wanting to report him?

I, (F), had left all social media behind in lew to social status after break up. I had turned to reddit these last few months and had that account 3 whole years. I kept to myself and moved back home 3 states away from my abusive ex, a rounded measure to create legitimate distance after the restraining order.

Last week I discovered an account that had been steadily following my comments and commenting and upvoting me.

I stayed curious but continued as normal. Received interactions regularly but could not care less. However. When I started receiving emails that my account was attempted to sign in. I realized that the IP address listed back in the same state I left. It scared me. So I changed my password and removed the email associated.

A few days pass and another attempt occurred. At this point when I reached out to reddit I was informed that I should set up two factor auth. When I had, things got rough.

Yesterday an attempt was blocked and I received the longest hate text via reddit. So much disgusting verbiage about me being a whore and a nobody that I was shocked. When I took a chance and asked if it was the ex.

The answer was not surprising at all. He straight up threatened to share all of our intimate things and had threatened me to return. Rather than cave or do anything untoward, I decided to delete EVERYTHING.

I have a new phone, a new private secure email. I have no social media as of yet. And a new reddit. But AITA if I want to report him to the police?
