Her and I are not actually in a committed relationship, but are currently dating and very invested in each other. Earlier on the phone, she was telling me about a friend of hers who likes regularly going out with different guys, going to music festivals, and going out to clubs/bars a lot. I can’t relate, but there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve just noticed that a lot of girls that fit that lifestyle often have belly button piercings.
Gf showed me a picture of her friend in a crop top and a guy and the only comment I made about her friend was “oh, I thought she’d have a belly button piercing.”
Gf blew up on me and said I’m a creep and that I was looking at her friend in an inappropriate way. I said no not at all, I was just expecting a belly button piercing. For further context, I have a lot of tattoos and am usually pretty curious about other people’s tattoos and body modifications when I see them.
Did I say something completely insensitive? I asked four of my girl friends if they’d be offended in that situation but they said no, they’d maybe be confused at most. Gf is adamant that any girl would be deeply offended though.
