I (33F) am living with my mom (65F). I know this might sound dumb and obvious, but I am second-guessing myself right now.
We have a cat that is allowed to go outside on his own and about two weeks ago he came back with a bite on the base of his tail and had issues lifting his tail and was hissing. At first, I thought nothing because he did not hiss at first so maybe he was just frightened as he was walking slowly, but then I heard him hissing which worried me because he is a very quiet cat, no hissing and rare meows. I spent the weekend telling her to bring the cat to the vet when they were open.
I had to annoy her multiple times via text to bring the cat to the vet while I was at work because she likes to brush off things as not as bad. She eventually did, I believe it was a Monday when she did, and turned out he got some antibiotics and a jab and she was supposed to go back on that Thursday.
Time goes and I noticed a bump on his tail, he was otherwise fine eating, drinking using the toilet. This week Monday morning when I was getting ready I noticed something when giving him his morning pets before I left for work and took a closer look, he had licked his hair off of a spot and his tail was a bit wound there as well. So I mentioned again multiple times that she had to take him to the vet, and she replied that she couldn't get him into the carrier. Wednesday I kind of tricked him into his carrier, I did not double-check the opening time and the vet was closed she was then annoyed for walking to the vet and then back. So, after work yesterday I was so annoyed with the whole spiel that I did it myself, turned out he had an infection and he had to stay the night at the vet so they could scrape it out.
I arrived back home and she asked what the vet said the sense that it was probably nothing. I did not yell but muttered "He has to stay the night, they have to sedate him and scrape out the infection in his tail." and then followed up with "If you had brought him to the vet on Thursday-" and trailed off but it was clear that I meant if she had done what she was supposed to do we wouldn't have to have him scraped.
Well, since I had said that she has been ignoring me. Not looking at me, not speaking not answering when I say or ask something. Now I am wondering if I am the Asshole for saying something and not just saying he had to stay the night to get scraped out? On the other hand, my heart felt like it was being gauged out seeing him so scared between my legs before I lifted him to put him in the crate and watched him press his little forehead against the metal bars and meow at me when I left him at the vet.
