So I (F20) have booked to go on holiday with friends. Nothing fancy but a chance for us to meet up and spend some time together. We all live a couple of hours away from eachother so we only see eachother once a year. The problem comes with my best friend.

Now she (F21) doesnt get along with these friends of mine, which is fine. She tried to get along with them but couldnt. It wasnt like they hated eachother they just made her uncomfortable with their different sense of humour so she ended up not hanging out with them. Which I thought was fine, just different social circles is all. All the interaction they have is a quick hi every now and then if she comes into the room while im on the phone with them.

So when we were first booking the holiday I asked her if she wanted to come with. Even though I knew that the friend group made her uncomfortable I thought it was better than not offering. She said “Idk I think im busy those days sorry” so I thought okay that was the end of that. Cut to day I bring it up again and she says “welp I could have come aswell but okay.” I brought up the fact I asked and she said “That wasnt a no I just said I wasnt sure.”

I thought I might have misinterpreted it and apologised that I couldnt really change the booking now as it was all paid for. She went on to say we should rethink our day out as “If thats going to be all you talk about theres no point me being there.” I said “It wont be I promise!” to which I got “Uh huh sure whatever” from her. This might have been where ITAH cause I asked “dont they make you feel uncomfortable?” Her response was “Yeah I wouldnt want to spend time with those fake friends anyway.” I went on to ask “Then why is it a problem you arent coming? If you dont like them and barely speak to them why would you want to spend 3 days with them?” to which she just said “Wow thanks.”

I dont really know how to respond to this and have just sat on it for a bit. So AITAH
