I am a F(21). My sister (6), has problems with eating. She refuses to eat pretty much anything (even if she was made to try it before and liked it). She usually eats a few small bites, then asks for Pediasure, for which she always requires that she hold someone’s ear (a habit she‘s had since a baby). At this point, the only thing she’ll always go to is Pediasure, and she almost always refuses to try any new foods. A lot of the time my mom will get her pizza or McDonalds nuggets with fries, or make her noodles or Spam (stuff she likes), but even then she won’t really eat it. She does go to a therapist specialized in helping her to eat, but she’s been going for years to no avail. She’s allowed a tablet at the table to keep her there in hopes she’ll eat, but again, she only eats a couple of bites most of the time before asking for the milk. Today she asked to play with me like she usually does, and I told her that I’d play with her if she ate all her food. She proceeded to eat a few bites like usual, her plate still pretty much full (it’s a child plate). I said I can’t play with her unless she eats more. She started complaining to my mom that I wouldn’t play with her. My sister was asked if she wasn’t eating because she didn‘t like the food or if it was because she wasn’t hungry. She said she just didn‘t like the food, and then my mom gave her other options (the ones she likes but still refuses to eat a lot), and she refused. She then started crying because I wasn’t going to play with her. I am just trying to do whatever I can to motivate her to eat because it’s been years and nothing has changed for her. I didn‘t want to just play with her after because then I feel like it shows her that she can just not do what was asked of her and still get the reward anyway, especially since I watch her when the parentals can’t and I don’t want her to expect that from the people watching over her. My mom was aggravated with me for not just playing with her. AITAH?
