I am a lecturer who gets invited to speak at several symposiums about a certain topic. My relative knows this and told me that he will be inviting me to talk at their programs in the future. Allegedly, he is a program coordinator.

This morning, he sent me a message asking for a copy of my lecture / slide decks about a certain technical topic. He told me, he is in-charge of a program for tomorrow and the invited speaker has not yet sent her slide decks / lecture. So he is preparing one in case that said person fails to make any since this speaker is known not to be prepared.

I said NO at the first instance and he kept on explaining how he is tired and he needs help, etc. How he is the program coordinator and he needs the program to be good.

Now this is why I might be an asshole. I told him, giving out lectures is one of my sources of income. Every lectures and slides in it have been placed there because I researched on the topics or create it based on my audience. Even the scenarios and cases are invented by me so my audience will be able to understand what I was talking about. So I want to be paid for this. He did not reply after that. Am I the asshole?
