Recently this guy had told our friend group that he thinks his brother's girlfriend is an evil demon/spirit that is "haunting him and trying to curse his bloodline for the next 10 generations". He thinks this because since she has been at his house, nothing good has happened. It has gotten to the point where he is ruining his own life at home, since now he says he wont spend time with his family if she is even in the house. He also says "if you say its name then you're invoking it as an evil vessel" all of which is stemming from the fact he thinks she is going out of her way to ruin his life even though she has never done anything to him. The only thing that she's ever done that we know of is one time she had asked him to leave the couch when she was her boyfriend (his brother). Normally I would try to understand how he's feeling but all of the advice anyone tries to give him he immediately shuts it down. We've recommended therapy, medicine, and even just trying to talk to his parents more, all of these being rebutted by him saying "that's what it wants". This has been going on for the entire school year and more than anything I just want him to get the help he needs, however whenever he says something like her name is worse than the n word (he's extremely white) then it just makes it impossible for anyone to take him serious. Should I keep trying to give advice and help hoping that he eventually listens to me or should I stop trying altogether. He's lost many of his friends over this, all because of how he explodes when anyone wont listen to him and we're all at a loss as to what we can do if anything. AITAH for not trying harder to sympathize with him?
