Okay so this past holiday we hosted my fiancés family briefly at our house. No one stayed over but they were there for a few hours. There was his brother Tyler who came with his wife Amy and there two boys Cody(4)and Jacob (1). Jacob is young and quite frankly such a sweetheart whereas Cody is an absolute disaster. He does not listen at all and thinks it’s funny. He was running around constantly grabbing things we asked him not to. Throwing things at our pets and stepping on their tails on purpose and just being chaotic. If you tell him no or to stop doing something he will talk back or laugh. Now me and my Fiance don’t have children and I have my own nieces and nephews who don’t act this way. And it’s not like I can reprimand them harshly because I am not their parent but even when I verbally reprimanded it did nothing. We finally had to bring everyone outside. Their mom and dad had no control over him and honestly seemed to want to relax instead of parent. Afterwards Mike (my Fiance) and I had a conversation and I told him how stressful it was having the boys here and how I wouldn’t want to host them to stay at our house in the future. He didn’t say no or say that I was wrong but just kind of brushed it off. We have had talks about having people staying over during the holidays but after that I don’t want to offer it. Am I the asshole for not wanting them to stay here?
