My husband and I both agreed we’d like to start some of our own traditions for Easter, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day now that we have a kid.

The only people going to Easter are my parents and grandparents. My grandparents don’t talk to me and after Thanksgiving and Christmas, I don’t want more awkward holidays. I want to surround myself with family who include me and makes me feel welcome.

I still plan on joining my family for future Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. But I’d like for some holidays to just be celebrated with my son and husband.

My mom’s upset I made my son an Easter basket (she wanted to make it). I just want to be a mom and enjoy doing certain things for my kid like Easter baskets and egg hunts. I don’t want everything done for him by my mom.
