My husband and is oldest son is getting married in NYC in a small venue this coming fall. The Save the Date cards were sent out two months ago so people know they’re being invited . My in-laws , both in their mid-eighties and my MIL is not in the best of health , are planning on going but are anxious because they’ve never been they have never been there, and have a Fox News view of the city (they are from East Texas). They called my husband today and asked if he would ask my son if he would invite the great uncle and aunt. My husband explained that the venue is small and they’ve already made the guest list and there’s just not room . My FIL insisted he ask anyway because they want them to come . Our son has not seen them since he was eight (he is thirty) and has no relationship with them. I told my husband no, be aide it’s not our wedding and it’s too late to increase the guest list. To me, it just seems incredibly rude. My husband feels very caught in the middle and now thinks I’m belong unreasonable. I’m mortified he would even consider asking our son.
